Divorced/Post-Decree

Even if you and your former spouse completed divorce proceedings recently or in the distant past, you may still have the need for a mediator.  If any or all of the following is true, mediation may be able to assist you:
  • Your child or children have grown since the marital decree was written and things have changed.
  • One of you has or is considering relocating.
  • Jobs and schedules have changed.
  • Your divorce decree reads something like: "generous visitation rights will be granted" but you can't agree on specifics.
  • Your child has grown and she has opinions about how she spends her time; or her school activities are causing scheduling difficulties.
  • Your teen is struggling in school, with peers, or with romantic relationships and you and your former spouse can't agree on what to do about it.
  • You and your former spouse seem to argue all of the time, even about small things, and it's wearing all of you out.  You need to learn to communicate and make decisions together better.
  • Your pre-teen or teen has expressed an interest in spending more time or "living" with the non-residential parent and you're not sure what to do.  Is it a genuine desire that might have positive results for your child, is it a mere curiosity or "the grass is always greener" phenomenon, or is it about dodging rules?
  • You or your former spouse have remarried and it's time to re-negotiate some things.
