Elder Care & Will/Estate Disputes

Elder Care

When parents or other family members are ill, caretakers are often overwhelmed and at odds with one another regarding the best means of caring for a loved one.  You may find that you and your siblings disagree on how, when, or where an elderly family member should receive care.  Perhaps one or more relatives live out of state, making negotiations particularly challenging.   Or maybe you all agree on some things, such as who should care for your family member, but you may disagree on how.   Sometimes decisions need to be made quickly, resulting in hurt feelings and disagreements.  This can have long-term consequences for relationships, and can detract from the care of the family member most in need, the person about whom you are negotiating.

Noah Mediation Services can help you and your family communicate about options and reach agreements through a collaborative process.  Elder Care mediation allows everyone to express opinions and ideas while working together to create a solution free of family hostility.

Will/Estate Disputes

When a parent or other family member dies, surviving relatives may dispute over property, changes in family members' roles, and/or other emotionally charged issues. Noah Mediation Services will work with families in mediation during this sensitive time so that valuable financial and emotional resources won't get tied-up in litigation.  Mediation allows family members the opportunity to suggest and negotiate property and financial distribution without tearing one another apart, hopefully resulting in more time and space for grieving rather than fighting.
