Center on Halsted
Chicago
A training for attorneys, mediators, and other professionals currently working with or seeking to work with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning & queer (LGBTQ) couples in separation, relationship dissolution, property, financial, custody, and/or visitation disputes. This is a basic skills level training with a special emphasis on domestic violence dynamics unique to LGBTQ couples.
Why you
should attend:
- You work with an individual or couple who is divorcing—and “coming out,” gender identity or sexual orientation is identified as part of the break-up—and you want a better understanding of LGBTQ people so you can best serve your client/s;
- You have current or potential clients who are openly LGBTQ asking about your services and you want to increase your level of education and experience in this area to provide the best services possible to a diverse clientele;
- You know a fair amount about domestic violence but not specifically how it pertains to LGBTQ people and relationships; or
- You seek a valuable and compelling way to fulfill your continuing education requirements.
